A hand is value when it is ahead of what continues
A hand squeezes for value when it is ahead of the range that keeps playing against it (4-bet or call). Against a UTG open, AQo is often dominated. Against a BTN open, it is well ahead.
Your value range depends mostly on the opener's seat: the earlier they open, the stronger their range and the tighter your value.

6-max ranges, 40bb and deeper. Mixed means the hand squeezes part of the time and calls or folds the rest.
| Opener | Value | Mixed value |
|---|---|---|
| UTG | QQ+, AK | JJ, AQs |
| HJ | JJ+, AK, AQs | TT, AQo, AJs, KQs |
| CO (+ BTN call) | TT+, AK, AQ, AJs, KQs | 99, AJo, ATs, KJs |
| BTN (+ SB call), you in the BB | 99+, AJ+, ATs, KQ, KJs | 88, ATo, QJs |
Strategy tip
Ask who opened before you ask who called.
It depends on the opener. Against a UTG open, AQo is often dominated and does not squeeze. Against a BTN open it is well ahead and squeezes for value.
The hand squeezes part of the time and calls or folds the rest. In the BB and in position the rest is a call from 50bb up; at 25bb and below it calls only if the hand is on that depth's call list (in the BB at 25bb, AJo against a CO open folds its rest). From the SB it is a fold.
Because the opener can 4-bet you with a strong range. The caller usually raised their best hands, so their range is capped.
