How big to squeeze

The simple rule: your usual 3-bet size, plus one open for each player who called.

Updated October 2026

Sizes by your seat

For an open to 2.2bb:

Your seat Size Example (open to 2.2bb)
In position (CO, BTN) 4.5 to 5 times the open 10 to 11bb
Blinds (SB, BB) 5.5 to 6.5 times the open 12 to 14bb

Why bigger out of position

Out of position we raise bigger: you will play the hand at a disadvantage, so you want to win it now or shrink the stack-to-pot ratio. With antes in play, aim for the top of the range.

Use the same size with value and bluffs. Otherwise attentive opponents will read your hand.

Strategy tip

A squeeze that is too small gives both opponents a good price, and your bluff stops working.

help Frequently Asked Questions

How big should I squeeze from the BB? expand_more

Between 5.5 and 6.5 times the open, so 12 to 14bb against an open to 2.2bb. With antes, aim for the top of that range.

Should I squeeze smaller with bluffs? expand_more

No. Use the same size with value and bluffs, or an attentive opponent will read your hand from your bet.

Why does a small squeeze fail? expand_more

It gives both opponents a good price. They can call with many hands, and your bluff no longer takes the pot often enough.
